Distribution Producer

Role

Plans and manages how an immersive work reaches festivals, platforms, venues, partners, audiences, and future opportunities.

Description

A Distribution Producer manages how an immersive work moves from production into festivals, venues, platforms, partners, touring, or release. The role connects creative goals to the practical conditions that allow the work to circulate.

In immersive media, distribution is often a form of translation. The same work may need different technical riders, staffing plans, access materials, install instructions, rights notes, platform packages, or venue agreements depending on where it is shown.

Discipline-Specific Description

Within distribution and exhibition operations, the Distribution Producer helps make the work presentable beyond its original production context. They coordinate the people, materials, schedules, agreements, and requirements that allow the project to reach audiences.

Scope Note

May include distribution planning, venue or platform communication, delivery materials, rights awareness, technical requirements, installation needs, festival follow-up, partner coordination, touring logistics, and release support.

Boundary Note

Distribution production is different from production focused on making the work. It begins when the central question becomes how, where, and under what conditions the work can travel, be shown, or be accessed.

Collaboration Note

Commonly works with producers, festival strategists, publicists, marketing leads, technical directors, platform managers, venue teams, legal advisors, and documentation leads.
