3D Artist

Role

Creates digital objects, environments, characters, props, or visual elements for spatial and real-time experiences.

Boundary Note

The 3D Artist creates visual assets but may not be responsible for art direction, rigging, optimization, shader programming, animation, or engine integration unless the role is combined on a smaller team.

Collaboration Note

Art directors, concept artists, technical artists, environment artists, texture artists, lighting artists, animators, Unity/Unreal developers, and producers.

Description

A 3D Artist creates three-dimensional visual material for immersive works. This may include models, props, environments, characters, objects, scene elements, surfaces, and production-ready assets that can be rendered, animated, or interacted with in real time.

Discipline-Specific Description

Within immersive media, the 3D Artist must often balance visual quality with engine constraints, headset performance, scale, interactivity, collision, materials, lighting, and participant viewpoint. Assets are not just seen from a camera angle; they may be approached, inspected, manipulated, or inhabited.

Scope Note

Modeling, asset creation, scene dressing, materials support, UVs, geometry cleanup, export preparation, scale consistency, and collaboration on real-time integration.
