VFX Artist

Role

Creates real-time visual effects that guide attention, mood, interaction, and transformation.

Description

A VFX Artist creates visual effects such as particles, smoke, fire, light bursts, trails, dissolves, magical effects, interface effects, impacts, atmospheres, or environmental motion. In real-time immersive work, these effects must both look right and respond correctly inside the system.

In immersive media, VFX can guide attention, signal interaction, create mood, show transformation, or make invisible systems visible. Because participants may stand inside or near the effect, scale, comfort, timing, and performance matter.

Discipline-Specific Description

Within technical art and pipeline practice, the VFX Artist creates effects that can run in real time. They shape visual moments while respecting engine performance, camera perspective, headset comfort, and interaction timing.
