Production Scheduling

Method

A production method for organizing tasks, milestones, dependencies, reviews, and delivery dates across an immersive project.

Description

Production scheduling turns project scope into a working timeline. In immersive media, schedules need to allow for creative development, technical unknowns, asset production, hardware testing, user testing, installation planning, approvals, and recovery time when problems are found.

Typical Use

Used during proposals, pre-production, sprint planning, production management, milestone reviews, festival preparation, installation delivery, and support planning.

Scope Note

This method may include milestone plans, sprint plans, review dates, testing windows, asset deadlines, build deadlines, venue dates, staffing availability, and contingency time.

Boundary Note

A good schedule shows what depends on what. It helps the team see which decisions, assets, builds, or approvals must happen before other work can move forward.

Collaboration Note

Usually involves producers, production managers, directors, technical leads, design leads, artists, developers, fabricators, venue teams, and external partners.
