QA Tester

Role

Checks whether an experience works as intended and reports problems clearly.

Description

A QA Tester tests builds to identify bugs, broken states, regressions, content errors, device problems, and unreliable behavior. In immersive media, QA often includes testing headset/device behavior, input tracking, scene transitions, installation resets, audio/visual triggers, performance issues, and edge cases that can interrupt the participant experience.

Testing & QA Context

Within Testing, Evaluation & Quality Assurance, the QA Tester provides systematic defect discovery and verification. They help ensure the work can be run repeatedly, safely, and reliably across the intended devices and exhibition conditions.

Scope Note

Includes bug discovery, reproduction steps, regression testing, test passes, device checks, checklist execution, issue reporting, and verification that fixes work as intended.

Boundary Note

QA testing is not the same as design critique or audience research. It focuses on whether the build behaves correctly, reliably, and consistently.

Collaboration Note

Common collaborators include developers, build/deployment engineers, technical producers, playtest leads, technical QA leads, device compatibility testers, and installation teams.
