Archiving

Production Phase

Documenting, preserving, cataloguing, and making the work understandable over time.

Description

Archiving preserves the work, its context, and the knowledge needed to understand or reconstruct it. For immersive media, this can include metadata, credits, captures, builds, source materials, documentation, dependencies, installation instructions, and exhibition histories.

Scope Note

Includes documentation, cataloguing, media capture, version notes, technical requirements, credits, rights, screenshots, source preservation, and interpretive context. It should preserve both the finished output and how the work was experienced and operated.
