Trip Hazard Review

Technique

A safety technique for checking whether cables, props, furniture, thresholds, or participant movement create fall risks.

Description

A trip hazard review checks the physical space from the participant’s and staff’s point of view. It looks for places where people may catch a foot, lose balance, step into equipment, or move without seeing the floor clearly. In headset-based work, this is especially important because participants may not see the real room while moving.

Typical Use

Used during safety review, installation planning, accessibility walkthroughs, exhibition operations planning, facilitation rehearsal, and public setup.

Scope Note

This technique may include cable paths, floor transitions, rugs, props, furniture edges, headset boundaries, staff paths, lighting levels, and emergency routes.
