Sightline Check

Technique

A spatial review technique for checking what participants, staff, or cameras can and cannot see from key positions.

Description

A sightline check tests whether important elements are visible at the right time. It can also reveal unwanted views, blocked cues, exposed equipment, or staff positions that break the experience. In immersive work, sightlines matter across physical space, virtual space, and captured media.

Typical Use

Used during installation planning, 360 camera blocking, spatial walkthroughs, safety review, exhibition design, and rehearsal.

Scope Note

This technique may include participant viewpoints, camera viewpoints, staff viewpoints, blocked views, hidden equipment, cue visibility, and accessibility considerations.
