No-Crew Zone

Technique

A 360 capture technique for defining where crew, equipment, and support activity must stay hidden from the spherical camera.

Description

A no-crew zone protects the captured scene from visible crew or unwanted equipment. Because a 360 camera records in all directions, the team must plan where people can stand, where gear can be hidden, and how performers can move without exposing the production setup. This helps the final scene feel complete and intentional.

Typical Use

Used during 360 camera blocking, spatial video capture, documentary VR, rehearsal, location planning, and capture review.

Scope Note

This technique may include crew hiding positions, equipment placement, performer paths, camera blind spots, remote monitoring plans, and review notes.
