Description

A Lighting Artist designs the use of light to shape mood, visibility, atmosphere, visual hierarchy, spatial readability, and attention. In immersive media, lighting also affects comfort, orientation, presence, and how participants understand scale and depth.

Discipline-Specific Description

Immersive lighting may combine artistic lighting, real-time constraints, baked and dynamic lighting, physical installation lighting, projection, reflection, color, exposure, and participant movement through space. It must work from many viewpoints rather than only one camera.

Scope Note

Scene lighting, mood, visibility, color temperature, shadows, reflections, exposure, attention guidance, environmental atmosphere, and collaboration on real-time performance.
