Experience Rehearsal

Technique

A rehearsal technique for running through the full participant experience before public presentation.

Description

Experience rehearsal tests how the work feels as a complete sequence. It includes arrival, onboarding, participation, staff support, reset, exit, and offboarding. The goal is to find timing gaps, unclear handoffs, safety issues, and moments where the experience does not yet feel coherent.

Typical Use

Used during facilitation rehearsal, rehearsal workshops, installation planning, playtesting, safety review, and final exhibition preparation.

Scope Note

This technique may include full run-throughs, staff practice, participant stand-ins, reset checks, timing notes, facilitator notes, and post-run discussion.
