Decision Log

Technique

A production technique for recording important project decisions, who made them, and why they were made.

Description

A decision log keeps key choices from getting lost. It records what was decided, when it happened, who approved it, and what tradeoffs or evidence mattered. In immersive projects, this is useful because creative, technical, safety, access, and venue decisions often affect each other.

Typical Use

Used during stakeholder management, production scheduling, risk planning, budget planning, systems architecture, and team handoff.

Scope Note

This technique may include decision dates, owners, rationale, alternatives considered, approval status, links to source documents, and follow-up actions.
