Circulation Walkthrough

Technique

A spatial review technique for checking how participants, staff, and equipment move through a physical presentation space.

Description

A circulation walkthrough tests movement through the real or planned site. It looks at entry, waiting, onboarding, active experience, exit, reset, staff access, and emergency movement. In immersive installations, good circulation prevents confusion, crowding, delays, and unsafe overlaps between participants and staff.

Typical Use

Used during installation planning, exhibition operations planning, safety review, accessibility walkthroughs, facilitator rehearsal, and venue preparation.

Scope Note

This technique may include route checks, queue checks, doorway checks, reset paths, staff-only paths, emergency routes, storage access, and audience-flow notes.
