Camera Height Test

Technique

A 360 or spatial capture technique for checking whether camera height supports the intended participant viewpoint.

Description

A camera height test checks how the world feels from the recorded point of view. In 360 video or captured spatial scenes, a small height change can affect scale, eye contact, intimacy, comfort, and whether the participant feels present in the scene. The test helps the team choose a viewpoint that matches the role of the participant.

Typical Use

Used during 360 camera blocking, photogrammetry capture, volumetric capture planning, documentary VR, spatial video, and experience prototyping.

Scope Note

This technique may include test captures at different heights, headset review, performer distance checks, scale notes, comfort notes, and participant-position notes.
