Cable Plan

Technique

An installation planning technique for mapping how power, data, audio, video, and network cables will be routed safely.

Description

A cable plan shows where cables go, what they connect, and how they will be protected. In immersive installations, cable layout can affect safety, reset speed, tracking quality, audio reliability, and how clean the space feels to participants. A good plan prevents last-minute tangles, trip hazards, and missing connections.

Typical Use

Used during installation planning, exhibition operations planning, safety review, technical setup, touring preparation, and venue handoff.

Scope Note

This technique may include cable routes, power drops, network runs, cable covers, labels, backup lines, equipment positions, and staff access points.
