Skeleton Setup

Technique

A rigging technique for creating the joint structure that lets a character, avatar, or object move.

Description

Skeleton setup defines the bones or joints that control movement. It supports animation, motion capture, IK, avatar embodiment, and real-time interaction. In immersive work, the skeleton needs to match both the intended motion and the technical system that will drive it.

Typical Use

Used during rigging workflow, character animation, avatar production, motion capture cleanup, real-time development, and embodied interaction.

Scope Note

This technique may include joint placement, hierarchy, naming rules, scale checks, retargeting needs, deformation tests, and export checks.
