Pickup Session

Technique

A capture or recording technique for gathering missing, corrected, or replacement material after the main session.

Description

A pickup session fills gaps found after review. It may capture a missing action, rerecord a line, fix a technical problem, or gather cleaner reference material. In immersive work, pickups should be planned carefully because matching scale, sound, lighting, performance, and capture conditions can be hard.

Typical Use

Used during motion capture, volumetric capture, voice direction, photogrammetry capture, 360 video capture, documentary work, and post-production review.

Scope Note

This technique may include pickup lists, matching notes, performer availability, setup notes, file labels, continuity checks, and review criteria.
