Performance Notes

Technique

A direction technique for recording guidance about acting, voice, movement, timing, tone, or participant-facing behavior.

Description

Performance notes help keep performance choices clear across rehearsal, capture, recording, or live operation. They may guide actors, voice performers, motion capture performers, facilitators, or staff. In immersive work, performance often shapes how participants understand role, permission, emotion, and safety.

Typical Use

Used during voice direction, motion capture blocking, rehearsal workshops, facilitation rehearsal, onboarding design, and dramaturgical review.

Scope Note

This technique may include tone notes, timing notes, gesture notes, movement notes, delivery notes, participant relationship notes, and revision notes after rehearsal or testing.
