Narrative Producer

Role

Coordinates the production of scripts, story material, dialogue, recording, and narrative implementation.

Description

A Narrative Producer manages the production of narrative work. They help coordinate writers, narrative designers, directors, performers, editors, translators, researchers, and implementation teams so story material can be created, reviewed, recorded, revised, and delivered.

In immersive media, narrative production may involve scripts, branching content, voice lines, story documents, localization, rehearsals, pickups, implementation tables, and continuity across scenes or systems. The Narrative Producer helps make that work manageable.

Discipline-Specific Description

Within writing, narrative, and dramaturgy, the Narrative Producer connects story development to production reality. They help keep narrative work organized, scheduled, versioned, and ready for implementation.

Scope Note

May include narrative schedules, script tracking, writing meetings, version control, recording preparation, localization coordination, implementation handoff, review cycles, and continuity checks.

Boundary Note

The Narrative Producer is different from the Narrative Designer or Writer. They manage the production process around narrative work rather than owning all creative content.

Collaboration Note

Commonly works with writers, narrative designers, directors, producers, voice directors, actors, editors, translators, developers, and audio teams.
