Mounting Test

Technique

An installation or fabrication technique for checking whether hardware, props, sensors, or scenic elements can be mounted safely and reliably.

Description

A mounting test checks how an object is fixed in place. It looks at strength, stability, access, heat, vibration, cable strain, safety, and ease of reset or repair. In immersive installations, a weak mount can affect tracking, visibility, participant safety, and daily operation.

Typical Use

Used during fabrication prototyping, installation planning, safety review, exhibition operations planning, technical setup, and touring preparation.

Scope Note

This technique may include bracket tests, wall or floor checks, load checks, cable strain checks, access checks, heat checks, hardware labels, and reset notes.
