Fatigue Check

Technique

A comfort testing technique for checking whether an experience creates physical, sensory, emotional, or cognitive fatigue.

Description

A fatigue check looks for signs that the experience is tiring participants too quickly. In immersive work, fatigue may come from headset weight, posture, reach, motion, bright visuals, loud sound, emotional intensity, dense instructions, or long duration. The check helps the team adjust pacing, rest points, interaction demands, and session length.

Typical Use

Used during comfort testing, accessibility walkthroughs, playtesting, usability testing, safety review, and long-duration experience checks.

Scope Note

This technique may include observation notes, participant self-reports, session timing, rest-point review, posture checks, sensory intensity notes, and facilitator logs.
