Audio Trigger Setup

Technique

A sound implementation technique for defining when and how audio plays in response to events, states, or participant actions.

Description

Audio trigger setup connects sound to the running experience. It defines which sounds play, what starts them, what stops them, and how they change when the participant moves or acts. In immersive work, triggers often guide attention and help the space feel responsive.

Typical Use

Used during sound implementation, interaction design, prototyping, onboarding design, QA, and final playback testing.

Scope Note

This technique may include event triggers, collision triggers, gaze triggers, state-based audio, timed cues, distance rules, loop starts, loop stops, and fallback behavior.
