A reference board that captures the intended mood, tone, texture, and feeling of a project or scene.

Description

An atmosphere board helps a team discuss the emotional and sensory direction of a work. It may combine images, color, texture, lighting, sound references, spaces, materials, or short notes. Its purpose is to make the intended feeling clear enough for design and production decisions.

Typical Use

Used during moodboarding, concept development, art direction, worldbuilding, sound design, and pitch preparation.

Scope Note

This technique may include visual references, material references, color palettes, lighting references, sound references, and notes about what each reference is meant to communicate.
